Great idea for an Easter gift! The Catholic Catalogue - a Field Guide to the Daily Acts That Make Up Catholic Life

As a little girl, one of my favorite Friday night activities was attending Novena with my Grandma, a devout Catholic. I went to church on Sundays. I went to a Catholic school. I lived in Rome for a few years, so cherishing the chance to visit the Vatican and all the beautiful churches and religious sights. I traveled to Israel in my early 20's, eager for an adventure but also eager to connect with my faith. Then I went through a period of disillusionment with the Catholic church. I felt disconnected and made myself feel unwelcome. I explored Eastern religions, yoga, no religion at all -- and I yet I always missed the rituals and rites of the Catholic church. Ironically, it took a friend of mine -- who is gay and could have chosen to have even more excuses than I to bow out of her Catholic faith -- to tell me to put my big girl panties on and just get to church. And so I did.

Today I have two children in Catholic school and we are regular church-goers. So as I look to bring our faith out of church and into our home, I was more than happy to receive a copy of The Catholic Catalogue - a Field Guide to the Daily Acts That Make Up Catholic Life by Melissa Musick and Anna Keating.
