Book Review: The Illustrated Compendium of Amazing Animal Facts by Maja Säfström

Special thanks to Blogging for Books for sponsoring this post. All opinions are my own.

At age six my daughter is like a sponge, soaking up any information she can get her hands on. One of her fave subjects is animals. While most nonfiction children's books on animals focus on the very basics, here's a beautifully illustrated, amazing book, that taught this mom a thing or two!

The Illustrated Compendium of Amazing Animal Facts  by Maja Säfström.

Maja Säfström is a Stockholm based architect and illustrator who has gained international recognition for her quirky animal drawings. Check out her website, www.majasbok.se, for a peek at her fun and fabulous illustrations.

In The Illustrated Compendium of Amazing Animal Facts  Säfström captures the spirit of each and every featured animal, highlighting the whimsical, amazing facts about animals that you might not know.Did you know that an octopus has three hearts? Or that ostriches can’t walk backward? Bees never sleep. Starfish don’t have brains. These are the fun facts that open your mind to the world of animals. My daughter loves this book just as much as I do, and the quirky illustrations make this book a beautiful addition to your coffee table -- even our houseguests have had a laugh as they picked up this tome and had a laugh and a wow moment or two.
