Book Review: Spark Joy

Special thanks to Blogging for Books for providing a review copy. All opinions are my own.

Have you tried the KonMari Method?

In her first book, The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up, Marie Kondo taught the world her unique KonMari Method of tidying up. It boils down to this: if an object in your home doesn't "spark joy" -- dump it. Sounds easy, right? But this simple method is nothing short of life-changing. It gives you permission and a framework for going through your worldly possessions and deciding what you truly need in your space. By clearing out your home of things that don't spark a feeling of joy in your heart (read: clutter), you make space for the things that do indeed bring joy.

In her latest book, Spark Joy, Kondo goes more in-depth. She clearly illustrates how to declutter and organize specific items throughout the house, from your kitchen and bathroom items to work-related papers and hobby collections (Read: Just Dump It!).

Kondo is that uber-organized friend that eggs you on to just clear the clutter/dump it. She gives you all the reasons, and as you contemplate each item, you'll almost hear her whispering in your ear, "Just get rid of it!"

User-friendly line drawings illustrate Kondo’s patented folding method as it applies to shirts, pants, socks, and jackets, as well as images of properly organized drawers, closets, and cabinets.

This book is for anyone that seeks a home that sparks joy. For anyone who wants to clear the clutter -- which in turn will clear your mind. If you are looking to tackle spring cleaning with a vengance this year, it's time to meet with Marie via Spark Joy!
