Book Review: Going Off Script: How I Survived a Crazy Childhood, Cancer, and Clooney's 32 On-Screen Rejections by Giuliana Rancic

Disclosure: I received a review copy of this book. All opinions are my own.

I recently started writing my very own book #2 and it's summertime. My brain needs a break during that rare moment of downtime. Yet I still love reading. Summer for me just isn't summer without a Hollywoodesque read. So it was with much pleasure that I sat poolside and read
Going Off Script: How I Survived a Crazy Childhood, Cancer, and Clooney's 32 On-Screen Rejections by Giuliana Rancic.

Giuliana Rancic is best known for interviewing A-listers on the red carpet and E! News, skewering their shocking style choices on Fashion Police, and giving viewers a front row seat to her marriage and family life on her reality show, Giuliana & Bill.

But did you know that she really is a tried and true Italian girl? She was born in Naples, Italy and immigrated to the United States with her family at age 7.

This book is perfect for poolside. I read it while watching over my son at a waterpark from the comfort of a chaise lounge as I basked in the sun. What a luxury! I felt like Giuliana was a friend, sharing her old stories with me in this warm memoir. Rancic shares her misadventures (featuring notables such as Johnny Depp, Leonardo DiCaprio, and Russell Crowe) on the winding path towards celebrity, all the while keeping it real. It hasn't been an easy path, either: Rancic battled the double whammy of infertility and breast cancer. She reveals the whole truth behind these struggles in this memoir in a personable manner that highlights her knack for breaking the rules while also sticking to her guns.
