Seven Fun Ways to Celebrate Fall at the Lincoln Park Zoo

Our family loves the Lincoln Park Zoo, Chicago's very own zoo located in charming Lincoln Park. It's educational, it's fun and ... it's free! As a Chicago mom with two kids ages 5 and 13, I can't tell you how many times I've visited our beloved zoo. The Lincoln Park Zoo is one of the best spots to celebrate fall in the city, thanks to the lovely Autumnal colors. Here are seven fun and interesting things to do this fall at the zoo.



Learn All about Apes over a Glass of Fine WineSeptember 25
Fisher Center scientists Stephen Ross, PhD and Lydia Hopper, PhD will share new insights about our closest living relatives while guests enjoy fine wine, beer and bites.
Lincoln Park Zoo's Regenstein Center for African Apes
6 p.m. - 8 p.m.
Cost: $17 non-members; $14 members (18 and older)

LEAP: Learn, Explore, And Play at the Zoo
Thursdays September 25 - November 20 OR
Saturdays September 20 - November 22 (except Oct. 25)
The zoo's sensory-rich play space for children and adults, specifically designed for early learners, is a wonderful place to learn more about the natural world by meeting animals, building, drawing, climbing and making music. This program is for children aged 2-3 years old with an adult.
Lincoln Park Zoo's Pritzker Family Children's Zoo and Regenstein Small Mammal-Reptile House
9:30-10:30 a.m.
Cost: $126 per child ($108 for members) for a nine-class series

Celebrate Fall at the Fiesta FamiliarSeptember 27
The Fiesta Familiar is the largest Hispanic family event of its kind in the Midwest, bringing the very best family entertainment and interactive pavilions with hands-on activities.

Catch a Movie at the Zoo: Zoovies Double Feature - Ghostbusters and The ShiningOctober 3 (rain day October 10)
Come to the zoo after hours and enjoy a movie on the zoo's south lawn! 
Lincoln Park Zoo's South Lawn, Cannon Drive & Fullerton Parkway
Movies start at dusk (7 p.m. - 10:30 p.m.)
Cost: Free!

Sleepover with the AnimalsOctober 17
Spend the night at the zoo and witness the animals as they too settle into their nests for the night. Families can choose to attend just the evening activities OR they can stay for the entire program and sleep over at the zoo.

Evening Encounter (6-10 p.m.) or Full Overnight (6 p.m. -8:30 a.m.)
Cost: Evening $42 ($35 for members); Overnight $70 ($60 for members)

Celebrate Halloween at the Spooky Zoo SpectacularOctober 25
Dress up in costume and come to the Lincoln Park Zoo ready for an evening full of spooky fun and games.
