#Sponsored: TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES: In theaters August 8and RealD 3D #TMNTmovie

This blog post is part of a paid SocialMoms and Paramount Pictures blogging program. The opinions and ideas expressed here are my own.

The blockbuster of the summer is finally here!

Are you ready to watch as a team of four teenage anthropomorphic turtles battle crime while attempting to remain isolated from society?

The TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES are here to save the world! And on August 8, they'll be appearing in theaters and RealD 3D!

The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles remind me of my very own childhood, and I love the fact that I can still follow along with them along with my kids! Also, I'm an Italian teacher, and I always appreciated the fact that the turtles are named after four Renaissance artists. Plus, I share a love of  a good Italian pizza with the TMNT team!

Rated PG-13, the movie takes place in New York City, where Shredder and his evil Foot Clan have an iron grip on everything from the police to the politicians. The Turtles must step out of their sewer and work with fearless reporter April O’Neil (Megan Fox) and her wise-cracking cameraman Vern Fenwick (Will Arnett) to save the city and unravel Shredder’s diabolical plan.  Based on the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Characters Created by PETER LAIRD and KEVIN EASTMAN with a Screenplay by JOSH APPELBAUM & ANDRÉ NEMEC and EVAN DAUGHERTY, Producer MICHAEL BAY (the blockbuster Transformers franchise) and director JONATHAN LIEBESMAN (Wrath of the Titans) bring Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles into the 21st century.

Here are some fun facts about the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles:

  • The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles first appeared in an American comic book published by Mirage Studios in 1984 in Dover, New Hampshire. The concept arose from a humorous drawing sketched out by Kevin Eastman during a casual evening of brainstorming with friend Peter Laird.
  • Donatello wears a purple mask and wields a bo staff
  • Leonardo wears a blue mask and wields two long and razor-sharp katanas that slice through nearly anything solid.
  • Michelangelo name was originally misspelled "Michaelangelo" by Peter Laird and Kevin Eastman.
  • Raphael wears a dark red mask and wields a pair of sai.
  • Splinter, the Turtles' sensei and adoptive father, is a Japanese mutant rat.
Be sure to check out the movie's Official Site, where you can download a poster, upload a photo and TMNT yourself, download a TMNT game app, and take a quiz to discover which turtle you are. And be sure to follow TMNT on all their social channels!
