The Fast Metabolism Diet by Haylie Pomroy

It's that time of year again - time to shed those extra winter pounds and get ready for swimsuit season! When MommyParties asked me to host a Fast Metabolism Diet get-together, I was hesitant: I don't believe in dieting, but I do believe in maintaining a healthy diet, and lightening things up a bit in the spring. The Fast Metabolism Diet, as explained in a new book by Haylie Pomroy, fits my anti-dieting stance, despite the title:  it offers useful information and a plan for recharging and reprogramming your regular, healthy diet. 
Author Haylie Pomroy has spent more than 17 years helping people transform their diets. With clinic locations in Beverly Hills, Burbank and Irvine, and Fort Collins, she has a Hollywood-style client list, including celebrities such as Jennifer Lopez, Reese Witherspoon and Cher. She's also a registered wellness consultant and certified holistic counselor.

And so I chose some of Haylie's recipes and invited some of my friends and family over to take a look and test out some new appetizers and dishes. I chose recipes from all phases of the three phase plan. (Here's a little bit more about the science behind it all).

My favorite recipe of all were the amazingly refreshing Watermelon Smoothies.  Easy to prep and just four ingredients - this will be my new summer drink.  I pureed frozen watermelon cubes with lime juice, a few drops peppermint extract, and I garnished with a mint leaf. Voila!



As an entree, I made the chili recipe from Phase 1 in my slow cooker. I used organic beans (it calls for a wide variety!) - and I found it very filling and tasty.  

We all shared our spring health resolutions, trying to keep the focus on the positive. My resolution is to continue riding my bike to work as long as the weather agrees, and to keep up with my weekly Yin Yoga.
