A Bookmark Treat for Young Readers

Yesterday my son competed in the CPS Battle of the Books, and I wanted to bring a little treat for his classroom, to celebrate his team's win. I thought about cupcakes, but as a teacher myself, I know that the last thing I want is for my students to be sugaring up in the classroom. So...I picked up some free bookmarks (always available at your local library - and luckily they had these fun Garfield ones on hand), and I made a pit stop at the local Polish grocer, where I found milk chocolate covered and milk filled cookie bars (healthier than a standard candy bar, less calories and smaller in size). At home, I used double-sided tape and taped the bookmark to the chocolate bar. Voila' - a sweet treat to celebrate reading!

P.S.: The Battle of the Books website is a great resource if you're looking for grade-level appropriate book recommendations.
